(Bloomberg) – Walmart Inc. is hiring executives from Instacart Inc. to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence to enhance competitiveness by the world's largest retailers.
According to a memo seen by Bloomberg News, Daniel Danker, Chief Product Officer and Head of Online Food, will join Walmart as executive vice president of AI acceleration, product and design. In the newly created role, Danker leads AI recruitment and product management and design teams. He reports to CEO Doug McMillon.
Walmart implements AI throughout your operations, including shopping agents for consumers and tools designed to help employees workflows.
At Instacart, Danker led product strategy and consumer experience. Prior to that, he oversaw Uber Eats, the food delivery program at Uber Technologies Inc., and also worked on Facebook. Danker has joined Seth Dallaire, another Instacart staff member, and is now Chief Growth Officer at Walmart US.
Danker also pursues an AI-focused role outside the company, rather than the sole executive of Instacart's C suite. In May, Instacart CEO Fidji Simo said he would leave to join Openai to oversee the application business. She said on Monday that it will start on August 18th.
Instacart said that Vice President of Product John Adams, who joined the company from Dropbox Inc. in 2020, will step in the expanded role of Vice President of Products and Design. He will also serve as general manager of online groceries.
Companies are competing for large-scale recruitment to boost AI capabilities. Meta Platforms Inc., which owns Facebook and Instagram, is one of Apple Inc. and Openai's most offensive employment staff.
Apart from that, Walmart is looking for another new role. This helps to build AI and apply it to its operation. The employment will be reported to Chief Technology Officer Suresh Kumar.
