VivaTech: Meet the AI/Data Experts

AI News

VivaTech, VivaTech, Europe's leading event “accelerating innovation by connecting startups, tech leaders, large corporations and investors”, took place in Paris from May 22nd to 25th. The event's partner, Société Générale, brought together over 150 participants for a highly informative workshop dedicated to responsible AI. This year's central theme at VivaTech was (unsurprisingly) AI. With the generative AI revolution all the rage at the moment, the latter dominated the discussion, accounting for 40% of the innovations presented by exhibitors, according to the organizers.

Responsible AI is a competitive advantage in financial services

Attention was focused on a workshop hosted by Société Générale with Artificial Intelligence (AI) experts, who led a multifaceted workshop taking an in-depth look at how responsible AI can gain a real competitive advantage in the financial services industry. Société Générale presented its achievements and key developments in this field and invited experts from start-up namR, benchmarking firm Evident AI Insights, consulting firm Accenture and others to participate in the event.

Noemi Elezam, “The AI transformation at Société Générale is first and foremost a business-focused transformation. It involves identifying the most strategic use cases for the bank and its business, streamlining processes and facilitating collaboration between different departments,” the group's Head of Artificial Intelligence explained at the start of the workshop.

Martina Machete, SGRF's Deputy Director of Data Science reminded participants that SG Bank's strategy is “focused on smart content that frees up staff time and improves operational efficiency and customer satisfaction”, adding that “the priority is to deliver AI solutions based on the company's requirements and ultimately enable full use by staff. A test-and-learn approach is therefore favoured and change management is key to success.”

In response to the question, “What is driving AI transformation today?” Etienne Guibault, “Société Générale's strategy on AI is based on values and responsibility. Our early integration of data and AI into our digital transformation in 2016 has allowed us to lay a solid foundation for hundreds of use cases. This wealth of experience has given us solid in-house expertise in the delivery and oversight of the use of these technologies,” said the group's deputy head of artificial intelligence.

The need for employee cultural adaptation

Société Générale ranks 7th in the EvidentAI benchmark in terms of talent development and 1st in terms of training and career development, with Etienne Gibaud commenting on these impressive rankings: “At group level, we have developed training paths to familiarize the entire company with digital, data and AI at all levels. At the same time, we also offer online training with more than 5,000 certified courses in data science.”

Finally, in the vibrant corridors of VivaTech, Experts from Société Générale and its partners participated in the speed interviews. Check out their testimonials:
