Vimeo uses AI to cut video production down to minutes and eliminates the need to write scripts.
A new collection of tools, which Vimeo calls an “AI-powered video creation suite,” can generate scripts from text prompts and display them using the built-in teleprompter. Humans involved in this process can just read the teleprompter and not worry about making mistakes.
Once the recording is complete, the AI begins editing the video again, removing long pauses and filler words like “um” and “um” that many of us say naturally. Want to see it in action? Vimeo has set up a test video so you can try out the new system yourself.
It will take a few seconds to generate the script. The teleprompter offers adjustable font size and pace for natural reading, and the text-based video editor cleans up your finished video with just one click. The whole process only takes a few minutes.
“AI in video pushes the boundaries of accessibility. Now any individual or business can create compelling, professional content in minutes, even with no production experience.” said Vimeo Chief Product Officer Ashraf Alkarmi. “We have obviously only scratched the surface of what AI can achieve for organizations and the people within them. I envision it.”
Starting in July, Vimeo users will have access to our AI-powered video creation suite. Anyone with a Standard plan subscription can try new features for free. This suggests that once the tool suite is out of beta, you will have to pay extra to use the AI.
This is another example of AI boosting productivity, but it’s unlikely that professional video editors will lose their jobs. AI is already creating new jobs, even if it ultimately makes video editors useless.
