Videos of Trump criticizing India for Pakistan's floods are being generated by AI

AI Video & Visuals

Last month, a catastrophic monsoon flooding flooded the flooded portion of Pakistan's Punjab province. During this period, Pakistan accused India of intentionally releasing excess water from the dam. Shortly afterwards, videos began to circulate on social media claiming that President Donald J. Trump criticized India's actions as “dangerous” and “crimes against humanity.”

The claim is false. This video was created using artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

Claim

On August 30, a Tiktok user posted a 40-second video of Trump with the caption, “America is standing with Pakistan.”

In the clip, Trump appears to accuse India of being “reckless”, “unfair” and “dangerous” to release dam water into Pakistan.

“India opened dams in Kashmir, which is very unfair and very dangerous, opened gates, and millions of tons of water rushed to Pakistan through rabbis and through Satrej through Chenab,” Trump added.

At the time of writing, the video has been viewed over 641,000 times, shared over 6,380 times, and liked it over 17,500 times.

Similar claims were also shared on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Tiktok here, here and here.

fact

Trump has not made that statement. The virus videos were created using AI-Tools.

Geofact Check We conducted a reverse image search for keyframes from the video and traced the original footage until May 30, a few weeks before Pakistan's monsoon season began in August.

The original event was a 52-minute White House press conference with American businessman Elon Musk. Trump will not accuse India of weaponizing weapons water. The only mention of Pakistan occurs at the 13:00 mark. There, Trump would like to thank the Indian and Pakistani leaders for ending their armed conflict at the beginning of May.

Further analysis using AI content detection platform Hive Moderation assigns a 90% score to the virus clip, indicating that the audio is being generated by AI.

Searches for official press releases and media reports also found no record of Trump commenting on Pakistan's recent floods.

verdict: Virus videos are generated by AI. There is no evidence that Trump denounced India for Pakistan's floods or called Dam Water's release a “crime against humanity.”
