The post contains a 16-second video with two segments, and it appears that people call Iran to end the attack on Israel.

“Stop Iran, that's enough,” says the woman speaking in English with tears in her eyes. “There is nothing left for us. Our homes, our dreams, everything has been destroyed.” The woman is holding an Iranian flag and wearing a headband with the Israeli flag.

The video then jumps to a group of people standing on the street. Two men and one woman hang their heads. The woman holding the sign in the Hebrew text said in tearful English: “Sorry! I apologize to the people of Gaza.”

In the comments below the video, which is mainly on Amharic, it seems that most people believe the video is real.

“This time Iran will be decided. The Israelis are so scared and begging for mercy, but it appears they haven't stopped the attack,” read one comment.

“If you asked the government to stop it when Gazan children were brutally slaughtered, you wouldn't have faced this tragedy,” another says.

A fragile ceasefire

Israel launched airstrikes on Iran on June 13, 2025, struck nuclear and military areas, struck residential areas, spurring rapid retaliation from Iran.

Iran and Israel have been in a shadow war with each other for decades, and this was the most destructive conflict between the Archphos.

The war struck the United States by Iranian nuclear facilities, followed by the launch of Iranian missiles (archived here) targeting Al-Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military facility in the Middle East.

On June 24th, Trump announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel (archived here).

However, there is a video produced showing Israelis asking Iran to end the attacks on their country.

AI-generated video

Several glitches typical of AI are noticeable in videos.

For example, in the second segment, when the man on the left wipes his eyes, his glasses disappear temporarily and reappear.

The people's faces in the background on the far right of the screen will then morph as they move.

AFP fact checks performed reverse image searches with keyframes from the video using a video verification tool.

Search results for the first segment of the video showed that it was published on YouTube at better resolution on June 18, 2025, one day before it was shared on Facebook (archived here).

The YouTube version has a clear “Veo” watermark in the bottom right corner. The same watermark can also be seen in viral video, but it is not very clear due to its low resolution.

VEO is Google's new AI-powered video creation tool. This tool allows users to generate realistic videos currently up to 8 seconds in length (archived here). A clip shared on Facebook is exactly 8 seconds long.

Similarly, search results for the second segment revealed that they were created using VEO.

The clip was published on YouTube in high resolution on June 18, 2025 with a clear “VEO” watermark in the lower right corner (archived here).

This clip is again exactly 8 seconds long.
