A video purporting to show two trucks equipped with anti-smog cannons colliding in Lahore has started circulating online, sparking a debate online about the waste of public funds.
That claim is false.

On November 2, a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared an 11-second video purportedly showing two anti-smog gun machines colliding with each other in Lahore.
“Is this video real? Anti-smog vehicles brought in yesterday reportedly collided with each other,” the user wrote in Urdu.
In the video, a person’s voice can be heard narrating that an anti-smog vehicle collided in Lahore and a motorcyclist was also injured. The video has been viewed more than 130,000 times and reposted more than 300 times to date.

Hive Moderation, an artificial intelligence (AI) content detection tool, found that there was a 99% chance that this footage was created using an AI tool.
The video also has some inconsistencies, suggesting it was generated by AI.
For example, the person holding the phone has unnaturally long fingers, and the sleeves of someone who is otherwise wearing blue clothes are a different color.
Additionally, the uniforms of the Lahore police officers seen in the video do not match those currently worn by the city’s police force.
The anti-smog trucks seen in the video also bear no resemblance to the ones actually in use in Lahore. Below is an image of the actual truck deployed by the Punjab government.
