Vertu is working on a foldable phone. Following the Quantum Flip, the luxury brand globally launched AlphaFold, its first book-style foldable. It also has the necessary premium materials, but the phone’s sole focus is on using AI to improve your productivity.
Well, not your productivity. Unless you happen to have $6,880 lying around. It’s the cheaper version, and the Alligator Skin Gold & Diamond costs a whopping $34,200. But we’re going with leather and gold and diamonds. What exactly is this AI?
To begin with, the phone comes with a 6.53-inch cover display and an 8.05-inch inner display. Vertu’s rationale is that when you’re “reviewing complex contracts, tracking multi-system operational dashboards, or comparing balance sheets,” the typical bar format doesn’t work.

If the AI reaches its limits, you can also access Vertu’s traditional 24/7 concierge service. Two-way satellite communication allows you to stay connected even when you’re out of range of a cellular network, whether on a yacht or in an evil lair.
Vertu AlphaFold is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite (not the new Gen 5). Additional security is handled by the A5 chip, which separately stores sensitive credentials and encryption keys. Safeguards are also in place, for example, the AI cannot make financial transfers or change sensitive data without human approval.
Looking at the rest of the tech specs, the phone is powered by a 6,500mAh silicon carbon battery that can last up to 28 hours under demanding workloads. 65W charging can restore up to 50% battery in 20 minutes.
There are three cameras on the back – 50MP main (1/1.56-inch sensor, OIS-enabled lens), 50MP ultra-wide-angle module, and telephoto module.
When it comes to exteriors, you have options. Stitched calfskin is available in two colors, alligator skin in seven colors, solid 18K gold, diamonds (brilliant cut, G color, VS grade and above), alligator skin, and Himalayan alligator gold versions. The hinge cover features a finely engraved and hand-finished “Clous de Paris” pattern. The hinge itself uses titanium and liquid metal, which isn’t all that unusual for modern foldable devices, and the foldable screen UTG is no different.
