LUCKNOW: Taking a cue from the CBSE, the UP Education Department plans to teach basics of coding, computational thinking and artificial intelligence (AI) to more than 5 million students in grades 6 to 8 in around 45,000 state schools. Decided.
This course will be introduced from the academic session 2024-25.
The course was developed by the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and will form part of the science subject. SCERT has already prepared books for all his three classes which will be launched soon by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Once considered a skill reserved for tech-savvy people, coding and computer programming has now emerged as one of the key tools for developing a student's all-round personality. Coding platforms are now an integral part of school-level learning. Considering the importance of technology in today's competitive world, NEP-2020 has made coding mandatory from class 6 onwards.
As part of the course, class 6 students will learn Microsoft Word, programming, Python and other computer science basics. Students in classes 7-8 will learn networking and cyber security, logical thinking, Microsoft Excel, data, and AI.
SCERT Director Pawan Sachan said, “Introducing coding from an early age and increasing exposure to technology will go a long way in guiding the youth towards a new world of innovation and creativity, and will encourage children to develop their own “It gives us an opportunity to set goals.” and reach new heights. ”
Following the development of the book, SCERT is currently completing training modules for master trainers who will train teachers at the district level.
