Utopai Studios has opened public access to PAI, a cinematic AI video model and workflow built for sustained multi-scene storytelling. With this release available on March 5, 2026, Utopai is positioning PAI for creators and studios who want to capture narrative video from early development to final output without relying on a patchwork of individual tools.
This proposal targets gaps in current AI video usage. While many systems perform best with short clips and visual experimentation, longer narrative works rely on continuity between scenes and the ability to modify sequences over time without losing the original creative intent. At the same time, professional teams have been treating copyright exposure, character ownership, and public readiness as determining factors in whether an AI video can move beyond testing and into production.
PAI is designed around story continuity and iteration control. Utopai says the system allows characters and environments to remain stable throughout multi-shot sequences, reducing visual drift that interrupts long arcs. It also supports story-level editing, allowing creators to modify performance, motion, and composition at the frame level or across the video, rather than redoing the entire sequence for each change. In its launch configuration, PAI supports up to 16 shots in a single narrative flow, up to 1 minute of output, and up to 4K resolution. The workflow is built for multi-turn iteration with natural language instructions, allowing teams to incrementally adjust sequences while maintaining previous context within the same session.
The second pillar is breach risk management. Utopai says PAI blocks generation against copyrighted IP, protected characters, and celebrity likenesses at the workflow level. Its purpose is to reduce accidental infringement when creators develop original worlds and characters for distribution, especially when multiple collaborators iterate quickly and the line between reference and reproduction can blur.
Utopai Studios is based in Mountain View, California and bills itself as a video storytelling technology hub with a focus on cinematic generative models and agent workflows. The company is building PAI as the infrastructure for a creator economy, where new IP is increasingly developed outside of traditional studio pipelines and audiences are formed around worlds and characters before projects enter traditional production. Utopai says its leadership team includes veterans from Google Research, Meta Superintelligence, Amazon AGI, Adobe Firefly, and film and technology organizations to tailor the product to both model development and production constraints.
Prior to its launch, Utopai said PAI was used internally throughout its film and television development workflow. The model is also used as part of Utopai East, a joint venture formed after the acquisition of Seoul-based Alkymista Media, where the company says it is developing 15 film and television projects. With the general availability of PAI, Utopai is effectively moving its internal narrative pipeline into the hands of independent creators and professional teams seeking a long-form, revision-friendly AI video workflow built for distribution.
