Etah (UP), Mar 7 (PTI) Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district has registered an FIR against a man for allegedly circulating an “obnoxious” AI-generated video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials said on Saturday.

According to police, the video was created by manipulating the prime minister’s image using artificial intelligence (AI) and was later spread on social media.

The video, which purportedly shows a man being assaulted and thrown into water, sparked outrage after it went viral.

Pirua Shaw Sandeep Rana said the video was posted on X on Friday.

During the investigation, the police also found that the video was widely spread by an Instagram handle associated with Sanjay, a resident of Puthiya village within the limits of Pirur police station, the SHO said.

Police said the FIR was registered against Sanjay on the basis of a written complaint filed by sub-inspector Pravesh Rana and screenshots and “original” videos of the viral post have been preserved as evidence.

Circle Police Officer (Sadar) Sankalp Deep Kushwaha said the investigation has been assigned to Pilua police station and action will be taken against those found spreading misleading or objectionable content on social media. PTI COR KIS ARI
