The University of Wyoming (UW) in Laramie has announced a total investment of $8.75 million to increase AI capabilities and innovation across schools and states.
The total $6.25 million contributions from private donors, foundations and businesses are consistent with $2.5 million in state funding and will be used to advance collaboration and disciplinary projects in the fields of livestock management, wildlife management and energy exploration. No details regarding the specific donations are provided.
The funds will also be used to enhance AI literacy at UW students and K-12 schools in Wyoming. We encourage registration growth at UW, the state's largest university. Accelerate economic development across the state by helping businesses leverage AI in their businesses.
“This investment reflects our commitment to positioning Wyoming as a leader in AI,” said UW President Ed Seidel. “Combining cutting-edge research with real-world applications across energy, agriculture, healthcare and more, will enable students, faculty, communities and industries to thrive in an AI-driven future.”
