UAE Ministry of Higher Education collaborates with Microsoft to advance AI in education

As part of this effort, MoHESR and Microsoft will explore further opportunities to leverage Microsoft Azure and cloud AI, engage stakeholders including faculty, students, and industry in a participatory design approach, and identify potential areas of technical collaboration in data analytics, machine learning, and AI.

Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research (MoHESR) Announced strategic partnership with Microsoft In line with national priorities, leverage Microsoft Azure and cloud AI capabilities for research and development of a prototype AI agent aimed at strengthening higher education in the UAE.

Dr Abdulrahman Al Awal, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratis and Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the ministry’s efforts to position the UAE as a global hub for innovation and cutting-edge research. He said:

“The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is committed to strengthening the UAE’s position as a leading global hub for innovation and cutting-edge research to support a sustainable, resilient and future-ready nation. Partnerships, such as this one with Microsoft, reflect this commitment by deepening engagement across the higher education and scientific research ecosystem and ensuring that research and innovation outcomes are closely aligned with national priorities.”

This collaboration will focus on developing four AI prototype agents:

  • Lifelong learning and skill improvement agent: We help you navigate your career and skills through in-demand skills and learning pathways.
  • Instructor support and course co-creation agents: We help faculty update curriculum and co-design courses and qualifications with industry.
  • Student personalized learning agent: We provide personalized learning support so students can progress at their own pace.
  • Research mission coordination agent: Connect research to national missions and real-world challenges to increase societal impact.

As part of this effort, MoHESR and Microsoft will explore further opportunities to leverage Microsoft Azure and cloud AI, engage stakeholders including faculty, students, and industry in a participatory design approach, and identify potential areas of technical collaboration in data analytics, machine learning, and AI.
