The UAE compared the surveillance required to monitoring nuclear weapons proliferation between nations and called for a global coalition to regulate the development and use of artificial intelligence around the world.
Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Telework Applications Omar Al-Ollama said the world urgently needed to come together and have a dialogue.

“With certain parameters, certain systems, certain mechanisms, you can say, ‘Okay, I’m concerned that this country is moving toward weapons-grade uranium.’
“We need the same level of rigor, the same level of oversight for AI.”
Al-Ollama, who became the world’s first AI minister in 2017, said countries, including the UAE, have seen private business leaders such as OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman and Microsoft Chief Executive Sundar Pichai enter the U.S. Congress. said he could not afford to wait to speak at
The dangers of the technology, which has been in the hands of consumers for more than a decade but is now rapidly accelerating, cannot be regulated at the national level, he said.
“Even if our country is the most progressive and most proactive nation on earth, with the best guardrails and safety measures in place, [AI] China, the United States, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else, because of our interconnectedness, if things go wrong, we’re going to harm our people,” he said.
