The Tunisian Customs Authority’s Central Committee for Judicial Risk Management has approved the integration of artificial intelligence-based forces into the country’s national judicial selection system. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the General Directorate of Customs headquarters.
The commission said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to modernize Tunisia’s customs operations and strengthen its risk management capabilities. The newly introduced AI system leverages machine learning algorithms designed to enhance the identification of high-risk shipments and improve targeting accuracy in the fight against customs fraud.
According to the statement, the AI-driven unit will also help facilitate legitimate trade by accelerating the processing of compliant goods, thereby reducing delays for trusted operators and improving the overall efficiency of customs procedures.
The reform is part of Tunisia’s broader national strategy to modernize its customs administration system, with a focus on balancing tighter security controls with smoother and more efficient trade facilitation.
