total war warhammer 3 It’s arguably one of the most ambitious strategy games we’ve ever seen on PC, and it just got better. The Total War Warhammer 3 update includes some much-anticipated features for the massive Immortal Empires campaign mode, as well as a way to directly affect enemy AI difficulty in combat and various new landmark buildings.
In our latest developer blog, the Creative Assembly team details the next update for Total War Warhammer 3. First, and perhaps most exciting, is the arrival of the Immortal Empires achievement. Combining all three of his games in Total War Warhammer into one giant campaign, the overarching mode is so vast that achievements are a great way to track your progress.
All playable races from Total War Warhammer 1 and 2, and the recently added Chaos Dwarf, will now earn a pair of achievements. One is earned by completing the Immortal Empires Campaign on any difficulty setting, and the other is earned by winning Legendary. To get them, you simply need to meet the race’s long-term victory conditions.
If you’re new to Immortal Empires and a little overwhelmed by what’s going on, you’re in luck. “The first few turns of the Immortal Empires campaign felt a little bare bones,” admits Creative Assembly. “Players are dropped in without much background, so it’s often a bit disorienting.”
To fix this, a tutorial mission is provided at the start of each campaign to guide you through your first turn, where you must attack enemy forces and capture settlements to learn the basics. “Currently, they are shared across almost all factions. But over time, we can make it more bespoke, with additional narratives and specific tutorials for unique faction features if needed,” he says.
Elsewhere, CA added an extra slider to the Combat Difficulty setting. These allow you to control the bonuses your AI receives for certain stats, and can be adjusted independently of your chosen difficulty. “We received a lot of feedback that the combat AI gives a lot of bonuses to certain stats, so it could be seen as cheating at higher difficulty levels,” he explains.
“This gives players more control over the fighting AI, allowing for a more customizable and nuanced experience.”
Finally, CA said it was in the final stages of tweaking “several new landmark buildings throughout the campaign map.” This blog post includes names like ‘Pillars of Bones’, ‘Agramon’s Menagerie’, ‘Monolith of the Bloody Hand’, ‘Scroll Palace’, ‘Port of the Great Dragon Fleet’, and ‘Hall of Rebirth’ to give us a quick glimpse of what we can expect.
Then it should be enough to entertain us all. Even if you only own Total War Warhammer 3, you now have full access to the full Immortal Empires map without needing his two previous games. With CA’s latest entry part of Microsoft’s PC Game Pass library, subscribers can join and try out the most ambitious projects in all of gaming at no additional cost.
