Toshiba’s Spinex Platform: AI for Solar Power Plant O&M Management | 2026 – News and Statistics

Japanese industrial conglomerate Toshiba has introduced a new platform to manage the operation and maintenance of multiple solar power plants. According to pv magazine, the system is part of the company’s Spinex for Energy digital services portfolio.

The platform aggregates operational data from distributed solar assets to support performance monitoring, fault response, and inspection management. Collects power generation data from inverters and automatically calculates plant capacity utilization. The system can identify equipment that is not producing output despite solar availability and can analyze various factors to determine the cause of downtime.

It also monitors performance ratios at the level of individual power conversion systems. The platform uses a predictive model that includes solar radiation, panel capacity, and installation angle to estimate expected hourly power generation for comparison with actual performance.

Integrated troubleshooting tools allow operators to interact with an AI assistant to diagnose equipment failures. The system utilizes a database of failure events and repair history to suggest potential causes and solutions. The platform can also combine performance data and AI to automatically generate operational reports and incident summaries.

Toshiba reports that its Spinex service is currently being used across solar power facilities in Japan with a total capacity of 929 megawatts. Future plans include expanding the platform to support battery storage systems, hybrid solar and storage facilities, and wind farms. The company predicts increased demand from large-scale solar power installations where efficient maintenance is critical to energy yield.
