From India Today Education Desk: As the world becomes more digital and data-driven, the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) professionals has increased significantly. An April 2023 report by the World Economic Forum (WEF), based on a survey of more than 800 companies, predicts that the introduction of new technologies will result in the loss of 14 million jobs worldwide over the next five years. there is
Employers plan to create 69 million new jobs by 2027, but at the same time 83 million jobs will be cut and 14 million net jobs will be lost.
By 2027, employment of data analysts, machine learning specialists and cybersecurity professionals is projected to grow by 30%. But AI could soon replace humans, and 26 million managerial jobs could be lost. This will have a huge impact on data entry clerks and executive secretaries.
India has the second largest pool of highly skilled AI, machine learning and big data talent, according to a Nasscom report. However, the report also suggests that the surge in AI talent is likely to get worse, with India facing a severe shortage of AI talent.
As companies adopt new technologies, the skills they need in their workforce are also changing. According to the WEF report, the emphasis is now on “the ability to use AI tools effectively” rather than computer programming.
With the growing demand for AI engineers, big technology companies such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are looking for top talent in this field. Here are some of the key skills they are looking for.
1. Machine learning
In the field of AI, the ability to create algorithms and systems that allow computers to learn from data is essential. Machine learning algorithms are designed to identify patterns and trends in data and make predictions based on that data.
2. Deep learning
It’s a subset of machine learning that allows you to create neural networks that help solve complex problems. Deep learning is used in applications such as image and speech recognition, natural language processing, and robotics.
3. Programming
AI engineers need programming language skills such as Python, R, and Java. You must be able to code, test, and debug AI systems.
4. Database modeling, data warehousing and data processing
Working in AI requires a solid understanding of data management and storage. To design and implement AI solutions, engineers must have expertise in databases, data warehousing, and data processing.
5. Problem-solving skills
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are important in AI engineering. AI engineers must be able to analyze problems, identify key problems, and come up with effective solutions.
6. Communication and visualization skills
AI engineers must have strong communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders. Visualization skills are also important to represent complex data in an easy-to-understand way.
7. Understanding AI Concepts
To be successful in AI, it’s important to familiarize yourself with concepts like deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision that form the foundation of AI development.
Data science is also a key skill for AI, and machine learning algorithms require advanced analytics. This skill has long been part of computer science curricula and is now being applied to AI for business solutions.
