Cairo – July 13, 2026 – TikTok

today announced new initiatives aimed at helping the community better identify, understand, and engage with AI-generated content, reinforcing the platform’s continued commitment to transparency, responsible innovation, and digital literacy.

As artificial intelligence continues to transform the way people create and discover content, TikTok is expanding its efforts to help users navigate AI-powered experiences with confidence. Our latest updates include new AI literacy resources developed with trusted experts, enhanced systems to detect AI-generated spam, and expanded partnerships to strengthen transparency across the industry.

We have increased our existing enforcement efforts, resulting in the removal of more than 86 million fake accounts in the first quarter of this year. TikTok will begin testing an enhanced detection system designed to identify accounts dedicated to AI-generated spam posts. These efforts will initially focus on content related to areas that can impact public trust and well-being, such as politics and current events, financial advice, and medical information.

To date, TikTok has combined content credentials, creator publishing tools, and invisible watermarking technology to label more than 3 billion AI-generated videos, making the content people see more transparent. TikTok is also expanding its leadership in AI transparency by joining the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) Steering Committee. Two years ago, TikTok became the first video platform to implement C2PA content credentials, a leading transparency technology that uses AI to help people understand when their content has been generated or significantly modified. By joining the steering committee, TikTok will accelerate the adoption of this technology across the industry.

Recognizing the critical role that education plays in helping people make informed decisions online, TikTok partnered with the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and AI expert Henry Ajdar to develop a new educational guide that encourages the responsible use of AI tools. The platform also introduces new educational resources to help users build practical skills for identifying AI-generated content.

TikTok also continues to invest in expert-led initiatives that promote AI literacy and responsible use of AI. Through partnerships with organizations like No Filtr and Raspberry Pi, our educational content has generated more than 200 million views since the program launched in November 2025. To date, TikTok has pledged more than $4 million to support these efforts, and we continue to expand our reach and impact.

Alongside education, TikTok is increasing efforts to protect the integrity of content on its platform. While AI continues to open new creative opportunities for creators, it can also be misused to churn out spam that overwhelms authentic content.

Across the MENA region, creators are increasingly embracing AI as a tool for storytelling, education, and creative expression. From developing original visual content to experimenting with new production methods, creators are demonstrating how AI can open up new opportunities while using these technologies responsibly. TikTok continues to support this creativity by investing in AI tools like Smart Split and AI Outlining, alongside features like topic management that give people more control over how much AI-generated content they see.

As AI continues to evolve, TikTok remains committed to collaborating with industry experts, educators, and partners in the Middle East and around the world to promote AI literacy, strengthen trust and transparency, and build a safe environment where our community can create, discover, and connect with confidence.
