Last fall, Meta announced an exciting partnership with Garmin that allowed Oakley Meta and Ray-Ban Meta users to link their glasses with their smart watches. Now, detailed Garmin fitness stats captured from your smartwatch are automatically overlaid on video recorded from your glasses during your workout.
As someone who loves participating in Spartan races, I fell in love with the idea of being able to visually see my fitness data alongside the obstacles I passed in each race. The problem was that my Garmin watch was too old to support the Meta AI link feature. Garmin watches are very expensive so I wasn’t jumping in to get a new watch, but Meta and Strava’s new partnership turned out to be the answer I was looking for.
At first, I thought Meta AI’s partnership with Strava would automatically tag videos taken at the same time as workouts sent to Strava. I went to the gym for a typical workout session that day, tracked the whole thing, and even recorded some of my more challenging 400-meter runs, but I couldn’t figure out how to add Strava stats to the video.
As it turned out, I needed to start tracking my workouts through the Strava app. This is fine if you’re running a Wear OS watch like the OnePlus Watch 3 43mm that I use. You can also use the Strava phone app, but you will lose your heart rate data.
Unfortunately, if you didn’t record your workout using the Strava app, there’s no way to link your Strava exercises to the video you captured with the Meta AI glasses. This means you won’t be able to add stats to older videos, but at least you’ll know this from now on.
First, open the Meta AI app, tap the device tab at the bottom, then tap the settings wheel next to your glasses. Select “App Connections” in the list, then select “Strava” from the list. Log in with your Strava account and accept the necessary permissions to track your stats.
When you’re ready for a workout, start your activity from the Strava app on your phone or smartwatch. While Strava tracks your workout, record a video or record using Meta AI glasses. There appears to be no option to overlay statistics on photos, only videos.
Once you’re done with your workout, open the Meta AI app on your phone, tap the device tab at the bottom, and select Gallery. Open one of the videos you took during your workout and tap the stats button in the top left corner. Enable the stats slider and select up to 5 available stats to overlay on your video.
By default, the statistics panel displays real-time data as the video moves, but this section[統計タイプ]You can change the statistics panel to summary by selecting and changing to summary. Each of these stat types displays different stats, making it fun to use both types for different videos. Using a smartwatch to record your Strava workouts will give you the most stats, as it can record your heart rate and other data points.
Once you’re satisfied with your stats, click the top right[保存]Tap the button to save the new video to your phone’s gallery. You can now share videos with overlaid stats using the Meta AI app or your favorite gallery app on your phone (like Google Photos).
OnePlus Watch 3 43mm is sleek and stylish. The OnePlus Watch 3 43mm is a great-looking watch that’s the perfect size, has 3-day battery life, and the power of Google’s WearOS platform to keep you busy.
