For this review, we used ZDNET’s latest YouTube video extension.
When I started playing a video on YouTube, the Eightify button appeared in two different places: the banner on the right and next to the “Like” and “Dislike” buttons.
To get started, I had to create an Eightify account. Once created, you are ready to start generating your overview.

As advertised, the extension grabbed the original 8-minute video within seconds and summarized it in bullet points under the Insights & Summary tab.
The summaries were easy to read, insightful, and even included fun emojis to enhance the reading experience.
Now let’s talk about the most important part: accuracy.
I had watched all the videos beforehand, so I was able to read the insights and briefs and review the information.

The second point in the AI-generated summary reads, “The Fire HD 10 Plus tablet is a major upgrade with a sleek metal design, 64GB storage, Wi-Fi 6 support and a fingerprint reader.” I’m here.
But what ZDNET contributor Jason Cipriani said in the video was just the opposite. When he was talking about these specific specs, he was referring to his Fire Max 11. When he mentioned his Fire HD 10 Plus, he was actually talking about how underwhelming it is.

But apart from that one error, everything is correct, and the summary shows timestamps next to each bullet point, so it’s easy to see the information.

final verdict
It’s a useful tool if you want to get an overview of YouTube videos.
When I was in college, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, when professors were posting video lectures frequently, a tool like this would have helped me allocate my time better.
Even if you watched the video, this tool would have been useful. Because the 8 point summary was a great way to make sure I understood the main points made in the lecture.

Like any AI model, this model can get the information wrong. A simple way around this is to use the timestamp next to each summary point to access the part of the video from which that bullet point was taken.
That way, you can confirm or deny important points and still avoid watching the entire video.
