The political impasse over government formation in Tamil Nadu intensified on Saturday after AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran claimed that a video released by TVK showing AMMK MLA Kamaraj supporting actor and politician Vijay was either faked or generated using artificial intelligence.

At the press conference, Dhinakaran demanded evidence regarding the circumstances in which the video was recorded and questioned the authenticity of the footage.

He said an investigation needs to be conducted to determine whether the clip is real or generated by AI.

The controversy erupted after TVK submitted a letter of support to Tamil Nadu Governor RV Alrekar while insisting on forming the government. Dhinakaran said only copies of letters of support associated with AMMK MLAs were submitted to the governor and not the originals.

He claimed that during the verification process by the Lok Bhawan Chief Secretary, Mr. Kamaraj realized that his signature was forged. Dhinakaran accused TVK of trying to secure power “to any extent” and alleged that the party was showing “arrogance and hatred”.

The AMMK chief also questioned why Mr. Vijay did not bring the MLAs himself to meet the governor if there was indeed widespread support for TVK.

“Who shot the video of AMMK MLAs? Vijay, Bushi, Sengotaiyan, Venkatraman or CTR Nirmal Kumar. Where did you shoot that video?” Dhinakaran asked during a press conference.

Mr. Dhinakaran further accused TVK of trying to create chaos within the NDA alliance. He demanded that TVK produce the original copy with the signature and the original video purportedly showing the MLA signing the letter.

The latest allegations further complicate the ongoing battle to form a government in Tamil Nadu, where TVK is still trying to secure enough support for a majority in parliament.

The AMMK has also filed a police complaint against the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), accusing the Vijay-led party of using fake letters of support in a crucial numbers game that has put the state at risk.

The parliamentary elections resulted in a hung verdict, with TVK winning 108 seats in the 234-member lower house. DMK secured 59 seats – AIADMK 47, PMK 4, IUML 2, CPI 2 and CPI(M) 2 – while the BJP, DMDK and AMMK won one seat each. Congress has since increased its support for TVK, but the party still lacks the numbers needed to form a government.
