According to the latest Naukri JobSpeak index, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) saw strong growth in June, up 42% year-on-year (Yoy). These roles had grown by 25% in May.

The report also showed a 9% increase in employment within the Global Capacity Centre (GCC).

The white-collar job market grew year-on-year at 11% in June. Among the key sectors, insurance led the way, employment rose 32% and hospitality continued to rise 21%.

After a year of slow activity, the IT sector recorded a 5% increase in employment, while Tier II cities promoted recovery. Senior IT professionals with over 16 years of experience are in high demand, with employment in this group increasing by 16%.

Fresh employment also recovered, with a year-over-year increase of 11% in June. Coimbatore emerged as a fresh employment hub for the month, recording a 24% surge in recruitment.

Fresh employment saw the biggest increase in sectors such as hospitality (40%), oil and gas (29%), real estate (25%) and healthcare.

Strong growth was also reported in entry-level roles within architecture and interior design (74%), advertising and PR (44%), consumer durables (42%), and media and entertainment (40%).

Startup employment remained high in major metro cities, including Pune (22%), Bengaluru (32%) and Chennai (21%). The monthly job index also rose 30%, noting robust employment trends among Indian unicorns.

“What stood out in June was the sharp picks when hiring across core services sectors such as hospitality and BPO/ITE,” Naukri's chief business officer Pawan Goyal said in a report from JobSpeak. “It was also encouraging to see employment become positive after employment has settled down, especially as strong demand is coming from Tier II cities. Fresh employment in the non-tech sector continues to gain traction, reflecting the growing opportunities for younger professionals.”
