fact
Keyword searches using terms such as ‘Rajnath Singh’, ‘CJP protests’ and ‘Pakistan’ did not yield any credible reports of the defense minister making any viral remarks. When we checked his official social media handles, we did not find any such statement.
A reverse image search found Rajnath Singh’s speech on the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Kargil War Memorial in Ladakh, uploaded on his official YouTube channel. He appears in the same outfit and background as seen in the viral clip. However, a review of the speech confirmed that he never made the remarks heard in the viral video.

Viral clips include the ANI watermark. We found multiple X posts by the news agency (here, here and here) conveying Singh’s speech during the Kargil Vijay Diwas program, but they do not contain such remarks, indicating that the viral audio has been altered.
We shared this video with TIA’s Deepfake Analysis Unit (DAU), which includes News Checker. They analyzed the media and discovered that
- Hiya noted that the audio appears to have been generated or modified using AI.
- Aurigin AI classified the video as partially generated by AI.
- NVIDIA Synthetic Video Classifier flagged the footage as synthetic.
- Hive AI Deepfake Detector identified several frames with signs of AI manipulation.

The Indian Army’s fact-checking unit also clarified that Singh had not made such a statement.

So we can see that the viral video is manipulated using artificial intelligence. It reused footage of Rajnath Singh’s Kargil Diwas speech and replaced the original audio with AI-generated audio to falsely claim that he linked the CJP protests with Pakistan and threatened retaliation in POK.
