Sam's Club is excavated deep into the AI journey. The company places enterprise-grade chat GBT tools directly in the hands of frontline leadership. Club managers can use AI to help with business insights, such as identifying sales trends. For more information about the company's growth strategy, head to Sam's Club CEO Chris Nicholas. Chris, I'm happy to meet you. So, this new AI rollout, Chris, what does that mean for business?
00:33 Chris Nicholas
Yes, thank you for letting us on board. We are truly excited by the idea that we can provide frontline leaders with access to Enterprise Enterprise Grade Chat GPT. And what this does is to use the best tools to solve problems, move faster, remove bottlenecks, be creative and ultimately be able to serve members and peers well. And I think we should give them access to it. We love technology at Sam's Club and love to lead the idea of using it to serve people.

So give me an example of the real world, Chris. I am the club manager. I'm using this new AI assistant. Is it going to help me?
01:21 Chris Nicholas
Yes, as you know, about 10 days ago we announced that we would be accessing this at our holiday meeting. This is a big meeting we have with thousands of people. And we announced that we were going to make them accessible. People were so happy to be trusted with access to this information that they could help them enter this information into and move faster. What I've seen since then is like it's really competitive.

And the examples I've seen in the last few days are about products. So, please tell me about the local merchants and local businesses that make the items I want to sell at the club. Also, being able to connect, get details about those businesses and connect directly with merchants means you can get to the market much faster than before. Well, the other thing was that there were sporting events that we were on a road we had never seen before, and we could prepare our products for that.
02:21 Chris Nicholas
A club manager yesterday said he spent hours pouring his report and resolved what decisions he should make about how he should sell, how he should sell the items and what his personnel should look like. It's now taking a few minutes. And he uses that time to connect with his peers, develop them, connect with his members, and build relationships. So we see something like taking the time to allow them to become merchants and already become CEOs of the business. It's 10 days.

What does this affect Chris how you think about what you are looking at now and beyond?
03:00 Chris Nicholas
As you know, that's a great question. We each of the 601 clubs, club managers we have, treat them like the CEO of their business. They are busy. And all they need is that they need time. They need time to make faster decisions to grow their business. Well, I love that this technology serves people and means we're moving to another kind of retail store.
03:29 Chris Nicholas
Well, the work isn't repetitive, its growth is about humans, not about metrics, it's the environment with our peers. And when technology takes that perspective in a place where it serves people, it's not about it. What that is, is the idea that you can really grow your business positively. And we have so many great examples. As you know, we've been using AI for a long time, and there are some great retail examples, whether we're going to scan for members who can get out of computer vision.

ai means you have a very fast, frictionless visit. Or the fact that we took 200 million tasks from our peers was a repetition that they didn't want to do, but we don't have a few. We have bigger businesses and more successful businesses. And most of it is because they can look after our people and look after our members. And it's a really, really good formula.
