AMD FSR Redstone includes FSR 4 for upscaling, ML-Frame Gen to hallucinate frames instead of rendering them traditionally, and ray regeneration to improve performance when ray tracing is enabled. The final feature, Radiance Caching, has not yet been released, but it also aims to reduce the cost of enabling ray tracing.

That said, while most games that supported FSR 3.1 have now been patched to support what is now called FSR 4, the number of games that support ML Powered Frame Gen is significantly lower. When it comes to ray regeneration, you can only see it in action when playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in online multiplayer matches. As The FPS Review points out, this is not the best place to adjust ray tracing settings.

Either way, there are enough games out there to understand how effective AMD's FSR Redstone is at boosting performance. In our FPS review, we tested it in six games and one scenario where ray regeneration could be used. We're specifically focused on performance, and will discuss the impact on image quality in more detail later. The new features are effective, and FPS improvements vary by game, but in each case FSR Redstone was more effective than AMD's previous upscaling technology.
