- Large tech companies will take part in ambitions and consultations to train 7.5 million British workers with essential AI skills.
- Amazon, BT, Google, IBM, Microsoft and Sage were called together for discussion as the government industry partnership agrees to the program of work.
- The improvement in AI skills for the fifth UK worker will be poised to unlock further growth and well-paid employment, and will encourage government plans to provide change.
The fifth in the UK workforce is supported by the AI skills they need to succeed in their jobs, breaking barriers to opportunity and unlocking economic growth.
This is the Secretary of Message Technology, which Peter Kyle delivered this week (Friday, June 13th), brought together major technology companies for his first round of intensive talk.
Peter Kyle met with Amazon, Barclays, Barclays, Barclays, Barclays, Google, IBM, INTUIT, Microsoft, Sage, Salesforce and others as the new government industry partnership announced by the Prime Minister during London Tech Week officially began work.
The consultation focused on how industry and governments could work together to realize this joint ambition, including identifying future skills needs and making training more accessible. During the meeting, the group worked to agree to a schedule of regular meetings that would help track the terms of reference and their progress.
Peter Kyle, Secretary of Science, Innovation and Technology, said:
Artificial intelligence is a new economic frontier, and we want to prepare the British for future work so that we can trigger growth that drives plans for change.
But if you want to recognize the incredible potential of AI, you need to make sure that people of all ages and in all parts of the UK have the skills necessary for both jobs that come with both technology and involve them.
Within days of announcing that we are partnering with some of the world's largest tech leaders to help us do it accurately, we will take them around the table – in the potential to offer not only British workers, but as a global AI powerhouse.
All companies that sign up for this partnership will bring different areas of expertise to their work. While Microsoft is already committed to bringing one million AI workers to the end of the year, companies including SAS and Sage will provide workers with high-quality AI training resources and boost their confidence in using and adopting technology. IBM is set to leverage the power of the IBM Skills Build Training Program to deploy target training modules for workers and arm them with the tools they need to embrace and use AI with confidence.
In the 12 months since the government took office, the UK has raised over £44 billion in AI investments, creating 13,250 jobs since the Prime Minister launched the AI Opportunity Action Plan in January.
With the growing number of companies seeking in the UK to support AI ambitions, the collective focus of large corporations and ministers works to equip people across the country with the skills they need to thrive in the age of AI.
