JAKARTA – Indonesia's Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) with nuclear weapons is a real threat that must be prevented.
According to the Indonesian Foreign Minister's biggest concern, the New York State Foreign Minister said that what he would say in the UN Security Council's public debate on the theme of “AI in the military and security territory” under the South Korean president of the United Nations headquarters in New York, is the use of AI in the use of nuclear control systems that further increase the number of nuclear control systems that promote the risk of issuing nuclear weapons.
“This is not a science fiction story, it's a real threat that must be prevented,” said Foreign Minister Sugiono, who was quoted from a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, September 26th.
In a statement, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that the basis must be based on the United Nations Charter, humanitarian law, human rights law and international law, including the stripped non-enhancing regime.
Furthermore, decisions regarding the use of weapons should not be submitted to the algorithm, Foreign Minister Sugiono said.
“Sandals must be held by humans in full responsibility and accountability,” stressed Foreign Minister Sugiono.
Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that artificial intelligence should not always be a tool to support humans, rather than a human being.
Furthermore, Indonesia emphasizes the urgency of comprehensive multilateral governance, so AI rules and norms reflect the interests of all countries, not just those with technical capabilities.
