RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has achieved the third-highest growth rate in the world for the development of artificial intelligence models and AI-related jobs.

According to Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, Saudi Arabia ranks second in the world in advances in language models, behind the United States and China, and just behind India and Brazil in AI-related job growth.

The findings reflect the country’s growing leadership in these advanced technologies, thanks to the efforts of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority under the directives of the country’s Vision 2030, which aims to elevate the Kingdom as a leading economy in these fields.

Saudi Arabia solidified its position among the top 10 AI-leading countries with strong performance across multiple indicators in the Stanford AI Index.

The world’s third-highest ranking in advanced AI models and AI employment growth highlights the strength of the Saudi innovation ecosystem, from its ability to develop advanced technologies such as ALLaM, one of the leading Arabic language generation AI models, to the continued expansion of AI-related job opportunities.

The index also ranks the country seventh in the world for talent acquisition. This is due to an attractive technological and regulatory environment that provides access to global expertise that supports the growth of advanced sectors. We also achieved 8th place in the world in general AI awareness and professional scientific citations in the field.

This is due to AI-related research and research and efforts to build a knowledge society capable of working with AI technologies through a number of initiatives such as the ‘SAMAI’ initiative, which will enable 1 million Saudis to use AI, and other training initiatives where there is a huge demand for learning AI skills from different segments of society.

These high rankings suggest that Saudi Arabia has become a global model for citations in the data and AI field. They also reflect efforts to build human capacity and raise community awareness, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 goal of developing national capacity.

This paves the way for building a comprehensive digital renaissance that supports the national economy and enhances Saudi Arabia’s global standing.
