Avocado OS now available on HummingBoard RZ-V2N-AIoT and SolidSense AIoT V2N, allowing teams to go from prototype to deployed fleet in weeks instead of months

SolidRun, a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance system-on-module (SOM) solutions, single-board computers (SBCs), and network edge solutions, and Peridio, the developer of Avocado OS, a production-grade operating system purpose-built for physical AI, announced the availability of the Avocado OSon SolidRun RZ/V2N-based platform. This milestone gives developers building vision AI systems for industrial automation, remote sensing, and outdoor monitoring applications a complete production-ready path from hardware evaluation to large-scale fleet deployment.

A complete production-ready path for physical AI

The Renesas RZ/V2N SoC at the heart of SolidRun’s RZ/V2N SOM is a quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor running up to 1.8 GHz, a dedicated DRP-AI3 neural accelerator with up to 15 TOPS of AI inference performance, an Arm Mali-G31 3D GPU, and 4K H.264/H.265 video Provides encoding/decoding. 8GB LPDDR4x memory. The HummingBoard RZ-V2N-AIoT performs its computing as a development single-board computer, offering industrial I/O including dual Gigabit Ethernet, CAN-FD, RS232/RS485, and MIPI-DSI display support over an extended temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C. SolidSense AIoT V2N packages the same RZ/V2N computing into a self-contained IP64-rated outdoor gateway with an integrated Sony IMX678 camera, IR lighting, wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and LTE, and is designed for autonomous operation in remote environments without battery or solar-powered infrastructure.

Combined with Avocado OS, these platforms add an enhanced software layer to production environments and eliminate the infrastructure work that previously slowed physical AI deployment. The combination of SolidRun’s hardware and Peridio’s Avocado OS provides a tightly integrated foundation that allows teams to focus on their applications, not the infrastructure needed to get them to market and keep them running.

“Delivering working prototypes is only half the battle in physical AI. The more difficult problem is deploying, managing, and maintaining these systems at scale. Making Avocado OS available on RZ/V2N-based platforms provides developers with a clear, proven path from prototype to production fleet, backed by the hardware performance and reliability needed for demanding vision AI workloads.” said Dr. Atai Ziv, CEO of SolidRun.

Avocado OS: Production-grade Linux built for physical AI fleets

Peridio’s Avocado OS is a purpose-built production-grade Linux distribution designed to bridge the “infrastructure gap” between working prototypes and deployed and managed fleets. Rather than forcing teams to assemble this infrastructure themselves, Avocado OS delivers it as an integrated, validated package from day one.

  • Validated BSP for SolidRun RZ/V2N SOM for HummingBoard RZ-V2N-AIoT Developer Board and SolidSense AIoT V2N Outdoor Gateway
  • Atomic OTA updates with automatic rollback ensure secure and reliable firmware delivery for fleets of all sizes
  • Hardware-rooted device security with secure boot and full disk encryption
  • Fleet-wide CVE tracking and software bill of materials (SBOM) support in line with EU Cyber Resilience Act requirements
  • Streamlined provisioning workflow dramatically reduces time from unpacking to production deployment

“SolidRun’s RZ/V2N platform is purpose-built vision AI hardware that is exactly what Avocado OS is designed to support. With validated hardware and production-ready software in a single integrated package, teams can eliminate months of infrastructure work, bring physical AI applications to market faster, and confidently manage them once they go to market,” said Bill Brock, CEO of Peridio.

Accelerate vision AI across industrial and edge applications

The target applications enabled by the SolidRun and Avocado OS combination platform are:

  • Industrial automation and machine vision: High-bandwidth AI inference with DRP-AI3 acceleration for inspection, quality control, and closed-loop control systems
  • Mobile robotics/AMR and AGV: Edge Vision AI for autonomous navigation and real-time perception in systems that cannot tolerate connectivity dependencies
  • Remote sensing and outdoor monitoring: SolidSense AIoT V2N is a self-contained outdoor vision gateway with an integrated Sony IMX678 camera, IR lighting, and battery/solar power, combined with Avocado OS to enable fleet management deployments in wildlife monitoring, boundary monitoring, smart agriculture, and environmental sensing.
  • Smart infrastructure and predictive maintenance: Always-on edge analytics with OTA update delivery for secure fleet management for demanding industrial environments
  • Edge AI inference at scale: Deploy production-ready vision models with the operational infrastructure needed to keep vision models up-to-date and secure in the field.
