Snapchat’s My AI chat bot is currently available to free users, but has already been the subject of hilarious memes and genuine concern.

In February, Snap rolled out OpenAI’s ChatGPT-powered features to paying users on Snapchat+, garnering almost 1 million subscribers in the 11 weeks since the announcement.

As of Sunday, regular Snapchat users are now able to chat with My AI, and many have already posted about their bizarre conversations.

People who tested the feature shared their jokes and concerns about chatbots on TikTok. Most people kept their memes lighthearted and used the bot like a therapist to help them with their problems or mentioned an ex they wanted to talk to.

But others have accused my AI of lying, gaslighting, and being an all-purpose spooky feature for chatting.

In a video that has over 12 million views, TikToker’s Evan Packard called My AI “terrifying” while showing him interacting with a bot about his location.

According to the clip, the bot asked Packard where he liked to hike in the city he lived in, but when asked directly my AI denied knowing his location. . When asked again on a different subject, the bot seemed to give Packard’s whereabouts.

Another author claimed that ChatGPT-powered bots did not have access to her personal information, but admitted in previous messages that they knew her birth month.

After seeing online reactions to My AI, Insider decided to test a basic conversation with the bot. In our conversation about chicken tenders, the bot recommended mixing dipping sauces and suggested portion sizes.

Issues similar to those highlighted by TikTokers arose when the topic of locations came up. When asked for the user’s location, my AI said, “I don’t know where you live, but I’d be happy to chat with you anytime, anywhere!”

It then correctly located the nearest pharmacy in the area and correctly answered the second location question.

Snapchat did not immediately respond to an Insider’s request for comment, but Snap CEO Evan Spiegel was surprised the company had achieved such growth for its $3.99 monthly subscription, Time reported. .
