SiMa.ai secures strategic investment from Micron to scale high-performance, power-efficient physical AI

Machine Learning

SiMa.ai, a leader in physical AI, announced a strategic investment from Micron Technology, Inc. to strengthen its ability to scale production-ready, high-performance physical AI solutions for real-world intelligent systems. This investment deepens the companies’ collaboration around a tightly integrated compute and memory architecture designed to deliver exceptional performance per watt for edge applications such as robotics, autonomous systems, and industrial automation.

Physical AI, where real-world physical systems perceive, reason, and act in real-time, requires memory architectures that balance high bandwidth with extreme power efficiency. To solve this, SiMa.ai’s Modalix™ MLSoC™ leverages an advanced memory hierarchy to support complex workloads such as large language models (LLMs) and vision language models (VLMs) at the edge.

Scaling physical AI – Enabling these capabilities in real-world intelligent infrastructure requires co-optimization of hardware and software to maximize performance per watt and reduce time to market for customers around the world. SiMa.ai has integrated Micron’s industry-leading LPDDR5X memory into the SiMa.ai Modalix MLSoC platform. This combination provides superior bandwidth efficiency and power optimization for robots, autonomous vehicles, and smart industrial systems.

Customers can start using SiMa.ai SoM (System on Module) with Micron memory today. SiMa.ai’s SoM fits seamlessly into existing platforms designed for robotics, industrial automation, and self-driving vehicles, providing an instant high-performance path from prototype to production.

“Physical AI places extraordinary demands on memory, and Micron’s LPDDR5X technology is the ideal memory foundation for the Modalix MLSoC,” said Krishna Rangasayee, CEO and Founder of SiMa.ai. “By integrating SiMa.ai’s purpose-built physical AI solution with Micron’s industry-leading memory, we deliver unprecedented levels of performance and power efficiency. This hardware synergy and the flexibility of Palette™ software enable our customers to easily deploy complex AI to the edge.”

“Physical AI requires new approaches to memory architectures that balance high bandwidth and power efficiency and enable systems to perceive, reason, and operate in real time,” said Andrew Burns, director of venture capital at Micron. “We are invested in SiMa.ai and believe that SiMa.ai is extremely well positioned in the physical AI era with its purpose-built MLSoC platform that delivers unparalleled performance at low power consumption and can scale to a variety of physical AI applications.”
