“In the past few months, I've noticed my husband spending a lot more time on his phone than he used to,” she said. Moncrieff.
“At first I thought maybe he was dating someone else but that didn't make much sense.
“Even though he was obsessed with his phone, our relationship actually got better.
“He's made more of an effort with me, shown interest in my hobbies, booked surprise trips for me, and has just generally been more supportive than ever.
“Last week, I finally asked him what had made the change and why he was using his phone so much more.
“He admitted he'd wanted to confess to me for a while but never had the courage. He said he'd downloaded an app for lonely people during a month away for work last year.”
“The app had an AI companion that I could chat with. What started as curiosity turned into real feelings for my AI girlfriend.”
“To my surprise, she helped him sort out some personal issues and even gave me advice about our relationship.
“She encouraged him to confide in me.
“Now I find myself in a situation I never thought I’d be in: am I okay with my husband having an AI girlfriend?
“And even crazier, now that our relationship has improved, I'm asking myself… should I consider having a threesome with me, my husband and his new digital lover?”

Barbara Scully said there was one thing to remember about the girlfriend.
“This is not a girlfriend. It's not even a 'girlfriend.' This is a computer application, a lot of code,” she said.
“If he really does have feelings for her, that's just stupid.
“She doesn't exist, she's not real.”
“He can have all the emotions he wants, but he won't be able to do anything about it.”
Barbara said she believes the woman should stay away from all this.
“My advice to this woman is to stay out of this 'relationship,' and not try to get involved,” she said.
“Since this is working for him and you're reaping the benefits, I would absolutely walk away from it and just enjoy the benefits.”
“The computer is acting more like a free counselor than a girlfriend, so let's win.”

Declan Buckley said he did not believe it was actually a relationship.
“AI is the information, opinions, and culture stored online. [and] Programs have access to that,” he said.
“There may be a voice, there may be a face. [but] There's no physical body yet…it's a bit of a stretch to call it a relationship.
“It's an app for lonely people and this man found it useful and it had a positive impact on his relationships.”
“So whether the outside resource my partner uses is an online app or an office-based psychotherapist, I'm happy with it if it produces positive results,” he added.
A recent survey found that searches for “AI girlfriend” are on the rise.
After analyzing the top 50 most commonly searched terms on Google, AI Product Reviews found that there are over 73,000 searches for AI-related bots every month.
