Robert Redford’s daughter, Amy Redford, has spoken out about how AI content related to her father has been “very difficult” for her family since her father’s death.

On Instagram, she began by thanking her followers for the “overwhelming love and support that has been sent to me via email, text, DM, mail, and sometimes even to my doorstep since my father passed away.” However, Amy noted that she has encountered AI-generated family tributes and other fake content.

“There were multiple fabricated AI versions of funeral messages, eulogies, and quotes from my family,” she wrote. “The depiction of a father who clearly has no voice, and a family that no one represents in a positive light, is even more difficult during difficult times. We grieve together, and we all support each other.”

Amy confirmed that the family had not yet held a “public funeral” for Robert and were “considering plans for a future memorial service”. It added: “Every family should be able to mourn, represent the deceased and pay their respects in a way that best suits their values and family culture.”

“AI is not going anywhere. My hope is to keep it in its place with transparent usage. There are many elements of AI that are made with good intentions. I just ask: What would you do if this were you? Let that be your guide.” “May humanity live, inspire, and be the connective tissue we all aspire to.”

The founder of the Sundance Film Festival passed away on September 16th, leaving behind a tremendous legacy in the entertainment industry. After his death, many Hollywood stars paid tribute to Robert.

Barbra Streisand recalled the actor as “charismatic, intelligent, passionate, always funny and one of the greatest actors of all time,” while Leonardo DiCaprio praised his environmental work, writing on Instagram: “His unwavering commitment to protecting our planet and making a difference was matched by his immense talent. His influence will last for generations to come.”

Robert had four children with his first wife, Laura Van Wagenen: Scott, Shauna, James, and Amy Redford. Their eldest son, Scott, died when he was two and a half months old, and their second son, James, died of cancer in 2020.
