Illinois has a reputation for bad driving, but I always think that’s unfair until I see video evidence of reckless drivers on roads and highways across the state.
Bad driving behavior: Cities with the rudest drivers
What not to do when driving in Illinois
I’m not going to sit here and say I’m the best driver in the world, but there are some things you should never do while driving in Illinois.
- Don’t treat avoiding holes like it’s a Mario Kart game. It is not safe for anyone on the road.
- There’s no need to panic when the first snow falls. Illinois drivers should already know how to drive in the snow, but many forget. You don’t have to be too careful about going 20 mph when other drivers are going over the speed limit. It can be dangerous.
- Don’t tailgate a truck without mud flaps unless you don’t want your windshield to crack.
- Never use the shoulder of the road to pass a vehicle moving slowly in the left lane.
