Machine learning and AI are currently entering the field of textile technology, and this year's ITMA Asia + CITME exhibition will be held in Singapore, held in the UK-based Singapore.
At ITMA Asia + CITME 2025, UK-based Shelton Vision will showcase AI and machine learning-driven fabric inspection technology with over 98% defect detection and up to 100% classification accuracy. Shelton's system, part of the BTMA delegation, reduces waste, increases efficiency and serves the market from camouflage printing to OPW airbags.
The company is one of a powerful delegation of 20 members of the British Textile Machinery Association (BTMA) attending the Singapore exhibition, and will showcase the advancements in technology for new high-performance fiber and fabrics, as well as testing, instrumentation and control of processing instrumentation and control.

Third Party Adoption
Shelton also demonstrates standalone AI classifiers in multiple applications used within the Shelton suite of visual system components. This can be adapted for use with existing third-party inspection systems that do not have defect classification (naming) or grading capabilities. It eliminates subjective manual decisions in daily operations and significantly improves the efficiency and throughput of the album review process.
Additionally, Shelton optimizes cut-plan functionality for use in Shelton AI review stations or fabric production plants based on the output of the automatic classifiers and grading systems that form critical components of system-wide ROI.
“The show will focus on how fabrics can be inspected by quickly providing a reliable source of fabric quality data across the output data from the vision system and the value chain that this includes the brand,” he explains.
