The initiative aims to benefit up to 300 companies and 1,500 professionals by June 2026.
Singapore, September 25, 2025 – Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly restructuring the industry and becoming an important driver of business competitiveness. In a recent National Day Rally speech, Prime Minister Wong urged businesses to adopt future business skills. This was also echoed by Mrs. Josephine Theo, Minister of Communication and Information.
SGTECH has taken the lead to launch the AI Impact Series (AIS). This is a demand-driven initiative designed to help companies define practical use cases to support AI adoption and associated skills. Offered by the Singapore Institute of Technology (SUTD) and supported by the SSG and InfoComm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the program has already seen participation from over 90 companies since July 2025.
In its role as an appointed Skills Development Partner (SDP) by SSG, SGTECH has identified AI as one of the most important technology trends that will disrupt and transform your business. To keep Singaporean companies competitive, SGTECH has established the AI Skills and Training Committee (AI-STC), a 26-member committee that includes the Government, Industry and Institutions of Higher Education (IHLS), to work closely with industry stakeholders to promote and accelerate the adoption of AI skills.
Nicholas Lee, SGTECH and Co-Chair, AI-STC Co-Chair:
“It is important that SGTECH plays a leading role as the closest trade association of technology trends to pave the way for Singaporean companies in technological advancement through the development of workforce capabilities. Through the AI skills and training advisory clinic launched last year, we share that over 60 companies share the challenges in AI adoption. For applications of AI use cases to enterprises as a starting point for promoting AI-STC, we hope to build the next AI-enabled business capabilities to 300 companies and 1,500 experts.”
SGTECH curated the AI Impact Series (AIS). This is the first demand-driven course curation from aggregating the needs of employers. The programme addresses key employer challenges identifying business use cases related to AI adoption and identifying AI skills to equip workers.
Since its rollout in July 2025, over 90 companies and 160 professionals have been trained by business owners, C-suites, medium-sized managers and experts.
John Leong, director of SUTD Academy and member of AI-STC:
“Through collaboration with SGTech on the AI Impact series, SUTD brings the power of design AI to businesses, transforming emerging AI technologies into practical business applications. We have the knowledge, creativity and confidence to effectively adopt AI and maximize the potential for growth and transformation.”
Adrian Ong, members of Jobs and Skills Division, Human Capital Cluster, IMDA, and AI-STC:
“Since 2016, with the strong support of SSG under the TechSkills Accelerator (TESA) initiative, over 340,000 experts have been building their technology skills. As the AI landscape evolves rapidly, we have been working closely with our industry partners to use AI's UPSILLING FREACH FORSINTINTION through SGTECH. We are pleased to support the AI Impact series curated by SGTECH and SUTD in 2019, and more recently in March 2025.
Xu Wenshan, Director of SSG's Enterprise Engagement and a member of AI-STC:
“SGTECH demonstrated how skills development partners can identify, aggregate, and translate employer needs based on emerging technology trends and translate them into industry-related courses. Through collaboration with SUTD, the evolutionary efforts of work partners to promote the evolved efforts of AI landscapes will enable companies to develop their employees by deploying employee business transformation efforts. To continue to help companies identify key and emerging skills.”
To expand the reach of AIS, SGTECH has worked with ecosystem partners such as Grab and Singapore Business Federation (SBF) to enable more companies to fill the skill gap in AI recruitment.
Alan Ong, Head of Training Strategy and Partnerships, Grab
“Grabacademy is committed to enhancing the skills and training needed to be more resilient and ready for the future. Through his role as Queen Bee of Skill Fuchur, we aim to equip practical AI features that allow AI to increase productivity while increasing AI access and productivity through our partnership with SGTECH in the AI Impact series.”
Lee Yee Fung, Chief Smart Technology Director of the Singapore Business Federation and member of AI-STC
“As the AI landscape continues to evolve rapidly, our ability to relate the technology needs of companies to the stages of business growth is growing. The AI Impact Series is a timely intervention that enhances the ability of companies to assess AI needs and give them confidence to advance their deployment.”
AIS helped companies think strategically about AI adoption.
Sanji Chandran, a board member of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Industrial Committee, and Director of CSD Ventures:
“The AI Impact series stands out by translating AI into practical tools. Small and medium-sized businesses can apply immediately. The most valuable point is building trust in the workforce to embrace change.

About Singapore Institute of Technology Design (SUTD)
Singapore Institute of Technology Design (SUTD) is the world's first university of design AI. With Design AI, artificial intelligence is treated as a partner and team member, not just a tool. As a result of this unique SUTD treatment, AI and humans combine brainstorming, spars and prototypes to bring about a solution that is several times higher. Since the university's organization in 2009, this human team concept has become possible due to SUTD's unique cohort-based interdisciplinary pedagogy.
As a pioneer in the field of design and technology education and research, SUTD has been a buzzword since its founding, pioneering innovative programs and initiatives, including launching the world's first design and AI degree in 2020. The success of that pioneering degree is set in the stage for a new growth strategy called SUTD Leap, which began in March 2024. Here, SUTD aims to redesign higher education with a greater emphasis on design and AI.
