In honor of National Self-Driving Vehicle Day in the United States (did you know there was such a thing? I didn’t), Jeep tests AI and self-driving off-road tech in the Grand Cherokee 4xe in Moab released a video footage of the See below for details.
Jeep is a household name, but it’s hardly the first company that comes to mind when thinking about EVs. Even more so when it comes to self-driving cars. But the Jeep brand remains strongly associated with off-road, and while many other automakers are bringing self-driving technology to the highway, Jeep is the first to bring it to the trail.
Parent company Stellatis has been a bit behind on the introduction of all-electric vehicles, but the Jeep brand is slowly but surely going electrified, with four all-electric SUVs planned by 2025. These plans include the recently announced Wrangler and the all-electric Avenger. , Recon, Wagoneer S.
For the autonomous off-road demo, Jeep equipped two Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-ins with AI technology to drive the red rocky terrain of Moab, Utah.
