Leica Microsystems, a leader in microscopes and scientific instruments, has released version 12 of Aivia, the company’s flagship AI image analysis software. Aivia 12 incorporates the Cellpose deep learning model to tackle high-density neuron images, improving somatic cell detection by as much as 46%. This release also streamlines his AI-enabled 3D tracing of Golgi-stained images with new updates to the neuron analysis workflow. Neuroscientists can now harness the power of AI to study neuron morphology with little or no AI training.

Additionally, Aivia 12 brings new and improved capabilities to all researchers. It incorporates new spatial biology measures and interactive plots for data exploration using tools such as Pearson correlation coefficient heat maps and violin plots. By running four models directly within Aivia, Aivia aims to support the Bioimage.IO Model Zoo’s mission to make deep learning models more accessible to the bioimaging community. Additionally, automatic 3D object detection using AI-based parameter estimation by Aivia That Learns was iteratively optimized and enhanced. These advances will enable all researchers to tap into AI and unlock previously unreachable insights.
