Responding to Rachel Reeves’ Mais speech, the Scottish Chambers of Commerce said Scottish businesses would benefit from a regionally balanced, investment-led growth model.
The business group supported the Prime Minister’s vision of an “active and strategic nation” to boost productivity, investment and long-term economic growth.
In a time of geopolitical instability and increased global competition, the UK Government must prioritize resilience and ensure businesses in all parts of the country can access the opportunities created by new technologies and stronger international partnerships, the SCC said.
As governments work to deepen partnerships with European partners, businesses stand ready to support increased trade and cross-border cooperation, helping to increase market access, unlock investment and reduce costs for businesses and households.
