The fake news of the retaliation shooting went viral on TikTok on Tuesday afternoon, with multiple influencers and websites reporting it without verifying its authenticity. Within hours of DaX News first reporting on the incident, multiple Facebook and Twitter users began spreading doctored videos claiming to be from the shooting that took place last Friday night. They also posted mugshots of an unidentified man, who they claimed was 45-year-old Barnes. The unsubstantiated reports further concluded that Barnes used an AK-47 rifle to avenge the murder of his son, Gino, who was reportedly killed by “police brutality” four years ago.
