Russia’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robots recently met with President Vladimir Putin at the AI Journey International Conference held in Moscow from November 19th to 21st.
The president was welcomed by the country’s first anthropomorphic robot, developed by Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank, at the annual international conference on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The development comes just days after another Russian robot stumbled in public during its debut presentation.
The Kremlin reports that the robot uses GigaChat’s large-scale language model and Yandex’s Alice AI-generated model.
The humanoid robot introduced itself to the Russian president and said: “My name is Green. I am Russia’s first humanoid robot that embodies artificial intelligence. This means that I am not just a program on a screen, but a physical embodiment of technology.”
The AI-powered robot also told Putin that it was created by Suber engineers, adding: “Thanks to its motors and numerous sensors, it moves smoothly, maintains its balance and can safely interact with people.”
He then showed off his dancing skills to the president before taking a break and moving to his booth.
At the event, President Putin emphasized the importance of building AI technology for Russia. “We cannot tolerate significant dependence on foreign systems. For Russia, this could be called national sovereignty, technological sovereignty and value sovereignty,” he said.
He urged companies to work on building national language models, adding: “Russia must have its own generative AI technology and products.”
