What’s the story?
Amazon has added a new feature to its Prime Video streaming platform called AI-generated “Video Recaps.” The tech giant announced the update on Wednesday. This innovative tool is designed to help viewers catch up between seasons of their favorite shows. We use generative AI technology to create high-quality season summaries with synchronized narration, dialogue, and music.
Improve your viewing experience with AI-generated summaries
This new feature is an upgrade from X-Ray Recaps, which Prime Video launched in 2024, which provided spoiler-free text summaries of key plot points. Unlike previous tools, the Video Recaps tool uses generative AI to create visual, audio, and dialog snippets. The technology analyzes key moments in the season, such as turning points and character growth, and then stitches them together into a sophisticated highlight reel complete with narration and background score.
Streaming service’s first application
Amazon is touting Video Recaps as the “first application” of generative AI in a major streaming service. The company hopes this will make long-running shows more accessible to viewers who need a quick refresher months or years between seasons. This feature is currently in beta and only available to US users of some English Prime Original series. fall out, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryanand upload.
Video summaries now available on home streaming devices
Video Recaps primarily works with home streaming devices such as the Amazon Fire TV Stick for titles included in the beta rollout. When you enter the latest season, you’ll see a “Recap” button on the show’s details page. Tap this to generate a concise AI-generated video summary designed to help you understand the content in just minutes.
