Reliance Industries (RIL)'s new AI subsidiary Reliance Intelligence has started operations. Reliance Intelligence (REIL) will be led by Gaurav Aggarwal, Chief AI Scientist at Reliance Jio. The department has started hiring AI/ML engineers to develop Indian language models and incubate new products. Agarwal shared the opening for AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning) engineers in posts on Twitter and LinkedIn. “At Reliance Intelligence, we are building a team that can drive what is technically possible in India's AI ecosystem,” Agarwal said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Whether we have worked together or have followed my journey from afar, if you have the skills and enthusiasm, I want you on this team. I am fully committed to this mission, but I need the best builders by my side to accomplish the impossible. Let’s make history,” he added in separate words. He also shared a post on Google Forms titled “AI/ML Engineer, Reliance Intelligence – Research Org.”In a post on LinkedIn, Aggarwal wrote, “If you're working on training pipelines, distributed systems, model optimization, or deep learning research and want to operate on a national scale, this is your opportunity to build something meaningful.”Mr. Agarwal has worked as an AI researcher at Google DeepMind and IBM. Mr. Aggarwal assumed his current role at Jio in May 2024. He previously led data science and AI teams at Ola and Snapdeal.

REIL is a joint venture with Metaplatform

Founded in September 2025, Reliance Intelligence is a wholly-owned arm of RIL that houses AI partnerships with global technology companies such as Google and Meta. The group is building a gigawatt-scale AI-enabled data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat.REIL will be engaged in the marketing and distribution of enterprise AI services pursuant to the JV agreement. REIL shares are held 70% by Reliance Intelligence and 30% by Metaarm Facebook. Reliance Intelligence and Facebook have jointly committed to an initial investment of Rs 855 million.In October this year, Google partnered with Reliance Intelligence to start rolling out the Google AI Pro plan, which includes the latest version of Google Gemini, to eligible Jio users for free for 18 months. This offer includes higher access to Google's most capable Gemini 2.5 Pro models in the Gemini app, higher limits for producing stunning images and videos with the cutting-edge Nano Banana and Veo 3.1 models, expanded access to Notebook LM for learning and research, 2 TB of cloud storage, and more.
