The new RHEL release also makes it easier for Red Hat users to install verified drivers for leading AI accelerators from AMD, Intel, and Nvidia. With this move, Red Hat says RHEL provides validated drivers that provide a secure foundation for new mission-critical workloads, helping alleviate bottlenecks and accelerate the AI/ML lifecycle.

The company regularly releases two RHEL versions at the same time, giving organizations choice in features, performance, and support lifecycle. The latest RHEL version (10.1) provides the latest security patches and hardware support. Additionally, Red Hat says major enhancements are backported to the older stable version (9.7), so organizations can get critical updates without breaking major version upgrades.

RHEL 9.7 includes post-quantum cryptographic algorithms to help handle potential threading with future quantum computing. This follows a feature introduced in RHEL 10, released on May 20th. Meanwhile, RHEL 10.1 enhances support for post-quantum cryptography in Transport Layer Security (TLS), providing protection for sensitive data in transit, Red Hat said.
