Abu Dhabi: PureHealth, the Middle East's largest healthcare group, announced the AI-powered Lab, its flagship AI-driven diagnostic facility developed under its subsidiary PureLab.

The 70,000 sq ft facility, the UAE's largest and most advanced standalone diagnostic laboratory, is set to transform national diagnostic services through state-of-the-art AI-driven automation, real-time quality control and seamless integration with a network of over 140 laboratories with over 50 international accreditations.

Officially inaugurated by His Excellency Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director General of the Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Dr. Noura Al Gaisi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, Shaista Asif, CEO of Pure Health Group, Rashed Saif Al Qubaisi, Chief Operating Officer of Pure Health Group, and senior representatives from the Ministry of Defense and Pure Labs, the seven-storey AI-powered laboratory is fully equipped. Processes over 30 million samples annually. Designed with built-in capacity for future expansion, it is well-positioned to meet the UAE's growing demand for advanced diagnostic capabilities.

“The launch of PureLab's AI-powered lab marks a significant step forward in advancing Abu Dhabi's vision of a smart, integrated, and patient-centric health system. As a regulator, we are committed to fostering innovation, increasing diagnostic accuracy, accelerating healthcare delivery, and enabling high-impact investments that improve health outcomes,” said Dr. Fayezah Saif Aliyafay, Executive Director of Healthcare Quality at Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health. Such facilities will help establish Abu Dhabi as a regional leader in precision diagnostics, AI-enabled healthcare and sustainable systems development. ”

Operating 24/7, PureLab's AI-powered lab represents a new era of diagnostic excellence, seamlessly integrating artificial intelligence, robotics, energy-efficient infrastructure, and the UAE's most advanced sample transport and automation systems. Designed for both scale and precision, the lab offers more than 1,800 testing parameters across a wide range of specialties, including anatomic pathology, molecular genetics, hematopathology, histocompatibility for organ and bone marrow transplants, infectious disease detection, and environmental testing.

The AI-powered lab is supported by a multidisciplinary team of 1,300 expert consultants, who bring deep experience in lab management and clinical operations. Their collective expertise underpins a patient- and clinician-centric model focused on AI-enhanced diagnostic accuracy, data confidentiality, and clinical relevance.

Arindam Halder, CEO of PureLab, said: “AI-powered labs usher in a new era of diagnostic excellence by integrating automation, artificial intelligence and clinical expertise to deliver faster, more accurate results at scale. Established as a center of excellence in the UAE, “As the nation's largest testing network, PureLab is proud to be setting new benchmarks in quality.” AI-driven innovation and accessibility will advance the UAE’s vision for a world-class, data-driven healthcare ecosystem. ”

At the heart of that innovation is an AI-powered digital pathology platform. It uses whole slide imaging (WSI) to convert traditional slides into high-resolution digital images, enabling rapid AI-assisted analysis of disease markers and abnormalities. As the AI-powered hub of the Digital Pathology Initiative, the lab connects oncology centers across the country to support real-time remote slide viewing, virtual consultations, and faster AI-powered clinical decisions. Comprehensive services in routine clinical pathology including chemistry, immunoassays, serology, coagulation and microbiology further establish this facility as the most advanced and reliable diagnostic center in the UAE.

Additionally, the facility incorporates a range of sustainable features, including fully hybrid transport vehicles, paperless digital reporting, energy-efficient window films and rooftop solar panels, in line with the UAE's net-zero emissions strategy.

The laboratory is designed for centralized efficiency, allowing healthcare providers to submit a wide range of tests through an integrated, cost-effective platform, reducing reliance on multiple laboratories. We also support community-based diagnostics such as walk-in services and home testing pilots, in line with the UAE's patient-centric and data-driven healthcare vision.
