I recently received a revelation while teaching at MIT Sloan. With all our talks on the use of generative artificial intelligence, we have overcomplicated rapid engineering. The most powerful approach is not to create the perfect one-off prompt. There is a reliable Arsenal template ready to deploy at every stage of the innovation process.

My focus in research, education and consulting is on improving innovation management. As part of that work, I have spent the past few months understanding how students, startups and enterprise innovation teams can apply generated AI to the development process of new products and services. We've seen how AI can help consistently improve the speed and quality of every step in the process.

That said, many people still don't seem to understand the basics of rapid engineering. But that's fine. do not have We provide rapid engineering. Instead, you need to distribute it Prompt Template – A proven list of prompts for functional prompts like cognitive scaffolds provides structure without limiting options when tackling specific steps in the innovation process. And they are a good way to educate people on the fundamentals of rapid engineering.

My current list of prompt templates for innovation is divided into nine categories.

  • Generate ideas for specific customer needs.
  • Generate ideas for specific customer complaints.
  • The idea of “Around the Box” encourages complementary products or services that can be sold alongside the company's core products to generate additional revenue.
