The Faculty of Computer Science and Electronics is looking to recruit machine learning and AI professors focusing on large-scale machine learning models to expand their dynamic team of internationally recognized AI researchers. This is part of six posts' strategic investments across schools of AI, cybersecurity and satellite communications, and includes lectures to support this position.

The school has two established research centers with expertise in AI and machine learning. The Computer Science Research Center (CSRC) and the Visual, Voice and Signal Processing Center (CVSSP). This post is in line with the Nature Inspired Computer and Engineering Group within Computer Science.

Sally has established an international reputation for AI research, with the top five in the UK: Computer Vision, AI, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, Natural Language Processing (CSRANKINGS.ORG), and the top five in the UK in the REF2021 output for Computer Science Research. Computer Science and CVSSP are at the heart of People-centered AI (PAI), founded in 2021 as a research at Pan University that brings together pan-equal research by bringing together expertise in academic disciplines beyond health, behavior, business, law and creative arts to shape future AI for the benefit of people and society. Pai is leading grant awards of over £100 million, including key research activities in the creative industry and healthcare, and two doctoral programs with funding for over 100 doctoral researchers. The PhD training center for AI doctoral programs and the Leverhulme Trust doctoral training network for AI-enabled digital access.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge of the AI ​​field and ideally the experience of working with the industry. Candidates must have internationally recognized research contributions and proven records of key research programs in AI and machine learning. Current research on AI within schools focuses on solving fundamental and real-world problems in areas such as natural language processing, optimization, audio and vision, AI for health and medical applications, robotics, and security.

AI features training within CDTS in both the UG and MSC curricula. Candidates are expected to contribute to these and assume other educational obligations in undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the school.

As a senior leader, postholders are expected to have comprehensive leadership experience and demonstrate their ability to grow their research team and support the best delivery. They are expected to advocate for the development of strategic partnerships and contribute to the service within the university at an advanced level. This position provides an opportunity to drive strategic research directions within the PAI and align colleagues within the CSRC.

Along with postholders, the school will appoint lecturers to support their research direction and strategy.
