New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday discussed the possibilities of leveraging artificial intelligence technologies in various sectors such as agriculture, environment protection and promotion of higher education in mother tongues with CEOs of AI and deep tech startups.
CEOs and founders of 16 AI and deep tech startups presented their ideas and initiatives at a roundtable discussion with the Prime Minister.
Mr. Modi emphasized the need for strong data governance, warned against misinformation and urged the development of solutions tailored to India’s needs, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
He referred to UPI as a model for simple and scalable digital innovation, expressed confidence in Indian companies and encouraged confidence in domestic products.
He also spoke about increasing private participation in the space sector and pointed to strong investor interest in Indian startups.
Prime Minister Modi discussed the potential of leveraging AI technology in various areas such as agriculture and environmental protection, including monitoring crop productivity and fertilizer usage to protect soil health.
He emphasized the importance of promoting Indian language and culture and called for expansion of AI tools for higher education in the mother tongue.
Prime Minister Modi also praised innovators for taking bold risks and building impactful solutions.
In healthcare, AI is being leveraged for advanced diagnostics, gene therapy, and efficient patient record management to extend quality care to the last mile, the PMO said.
Agriculture is leveraging geospatial and underwater intelligence to improve productivity and help manage climate risks.
The group also included ventures focused on cybersecurity, ethical AI, space, social empowerment through linguistic access to justice and education, and modernizing legacy systems to enhance enterprise productivity.
“Together, these reflect an ecosystem that responds to local needs while building global leadership in AI-driven innovation,” the statement added.
He further said that the AI startups praised India’s sustained efforts in strengthening the artificial intelligence ecosystem.
“They highlighted the sector’s rapid expansion and immense untapped potential, and noted that the global momentum for AI innovation and adoption is increasingly pointing towards India.”
The startups noted that the country currently provides a dynamic environment that supports AI advancements, cementing its presence in the global AI landscape.
Participants also praised the India AI Impact Summit, describing it as a reflection of India’s growth in shaping the global conversation around AI.
The roundtable was attended by the CEOs and founders of Abridge, Adalat AI, BrainSightAI, Credo AI, Eka Care, Glean, Innogle, Invideo, Miko, Origin, Prophaze, Rasen, Rubrik, SatSure, Supernova, and Sypha AI.
Chief Secretary PK Mishra, Chief Secretary Shaktikanta Das2 and Minister of State Jitin Prasada also attended the meeting. P.T.I.
