President Trump’s meeting this week with a Saudi delegation that included global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo culminated in the president’s typically surreal fashion.
Early Thursday morning, President Trump posted an AI video showing him playing soccer with a Portuguese star in the Oval Office.
The president posted the bizarre sight on Truth Social shortly after dining with Ronaldo and controversial Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Ronaldo, as part of MBS’s entourage, is making his first state visit to a Middle Eastern country since the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.
They were wined and dined by the president at a lavish dinner, which was also attended by Trump’s opponent Elon Musk.
“My son is a big fan of Ronaldo,” Trump laughed as he told guests. “And the Baron was able to meet him. I think just the fact that I introduced you made him respect his father a little bit more.”
Ronaldo has yet to publicly comment on the dinner, but he reposted a slow-motion video of himself and President Trump walking through the hallways of the White House. The video was captioned: “Two goats, CR7 x 45/47.”
The bizarre scene is set in the Oval Office and shows the president and the Portuguese football icon heading towards a ball falling from the ceiling.
At one stage he is seen running around the Resolute desk, passing the ball between them.
The AI-generated Ronaldo and Trump even do a kick-up, grinning as they calmly keep the ball in the air with their knees.
Particularly maneuverable, the AI-generated Trump even spins on his heel to catch a soccer ball before kicking it toward the viewer. The screen cracks and the strange scene ends.
President Trump posted the video to Truth Social at 5:48 a.m., just two days after the real-life Ronaldo visited the White House.
Ronaldo’s visit to the White House was the player’s first public appearance in the United States since 2014, several years after he was accused of rape. He strongly denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
His visit divided fans, drawing mixed reactions for his favor with President Trump.
One X user wrote, “I’ve never seen him take an L, much less an L this big in my life.” “An incredibly sad day.”
“Two legends meet,” another wrote.
Earlier this month, Ronaldo revealed in an interview with Piers Morgan that Portugal’s European Council gifted President Trump a soccer shirt with Ronaldo’s number 7 on it. The T-shirt was signed: “To President Donald J. Trump playing for peace, Ronaldo.”
Ronaldo mentioned President Trump, saying, “He’s one of the players I want to meet,” and Morgan offered, “I’d like to make that happen.”
“I would love to meet him one day and sit with him, because he’s one of the people I really like,” said the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star. “I think it can make things happen, and I like people like that.”
The soccer star also said he was going to tell President Trump “something no one knows,” but he did not elaborate on what he was referring to. All he says is that it’s something they “share.”
He went on to claim that he was more famous than Trump. “They know me better than he does,” he boasted.
