Generative AI is not It’s all about creative effort and parlor tricks. Investors and tech giants alike are betting that it will also affect corporate infrastructure and cybersecurity, and they’re paying lip service. Anna
Development tools and generative AI
Y Combinator Demo Days are a strong indicator of trends that investors may be interested in, and that’s one of the main reasons TechCrunch keeps a close eye on them all the time. His three areas stood out for the Winter 2023 batch: “Open Source, Development Tools, and AI.”
According to insiders, that batch of development tool startups has seen particularly strong interest among investors, with four of them raising additional funding just weeks after Demo Day. Meanwhile, AI-related startups were very popular with founders, accounting for 34% of his winter cohort.
You can look at these areas separately, but I’m more interested in how they overlap, so I called Israeli VC Rona Segev to get her take on it. Also, because almost half of her portfolio is related to her AI in some way.
Co-founder and managing partner of VC firm TLV Partners, Segev believes generative AI could lead to innovative ways for companies to explore and manage their infrastructure.
